5 Reasons to Drive Your Car Weekly

We are all doing everything we can to stop the epidemic from spreading, and that has meant staying indoors, working from home, and ordering takeout that isn’t particularly nutritious.

Therefore, it is safe to say that we have been using our car less and less, and there are some people in our group who haven’t even been in their cars in weeks! Cars are not designed to be a long-forgotten showpiece that gathers dust; rather, they are meant to be driven around. With that in mind, here are five reasons why you should take your car out for a drive once a week.

    FILL THE BATTERY UP

If you don’t use your automobile for more than two weeks, the battery may die completely if you do nothing to recharge it. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended that you drive your vehicle for fifteen to twenty minutes so that the battery can remain fully charged. Therefore, if you drive for 15 to 30 minutes at a moderate speed (the exact definition of which is up for interpretation) at least once a week, that ought to be plenty for it to be in top shape.

After you have disconnected the cables, wipe the batteries with a cloth and a corrosion removal solvent, both of which are available at any store that sells auto parts and accessories.

If you don’t have any expensive corrosion removal solution, you don’t need to worry about cleaning it because you can just use a mixture of baking soda and water instead! Why does it work? Because baking soda is alkaline and battery acid is acidic (which should go without saying), the chemical reaction would neutralize the acid, making it safe for handling and allowing it to be used.

After that, you can wipe the area that has been cleaned dry with a towel after rinsing it with some water first. After ensuring that everything is in place and finished, you should now rejoin the battery cables, beginning with the positive cable. Your automobile’s battery has now been thoroughly cleaned.

    MOVEMENT IS WHAT GIVES LIFE

You should drive your car at least once a week to ensure that all of the moving parts in your vehicle are properly oiled. Pistons and parking brake cables are two components that are absolutely necessary for the smooth operation of a vehicle.

When you take your car for a drive and apply the brakes, the brake pads will naturally scrub the rust off of your rotor, which will ensure that your brakes continue to work properly even after the car has been driven. When it comes to staying in shape, the components of a vehicle are comparable to the muscles found in the human body in that both must be worked out frequently.

    PREVENT TYRE’S DAMAGE

When you park your automobile for an extended period of time, the weight of the vehicle will start to crush down on its tires, which can eventually cause flat spots, which can detract from the overall experience of riding in the vehicle.

The majority of punctures are very temporary, and after a few hours of driving about, your tires will automatically return to their previous shape. However, bear in mind that flat spots can become permanent if your vehicle is kept parked for more than a month, and because of this, it is best to prevent getting them in the first place.

    HORRIFYING INFESTATIONS

If you do not use your automobile very often, then it is possible that insects that are creepy and crawly, as well as hornets that are terrible, could make a nest in it. Since they are protected from the severe elements outside in the car’s dimly lit and muggy interior, the setting is ideal for the construction of nests.

However, if you drive your car at least once a week, it will discourage any insects or rodents from making a nest in your vehicle since they will realize that it is not a safe haven for them to remain stationary in. Therefore, if you despise insects and are passionate about your automobile, you owe it to yourself to give it at least one spin every seven days at the very least.

FAVORABLE TO THE WELL-BEING OF YOUR MIND

Are you sick of spending all your time inside and staring at the same four walls day after day? Then what are you waiting for? Fire up the engine and go for a spin. Your mood will undoubtedly improve as a result of the change of scenery as well as the familiar sights of the streets and the people.

After all, it’s no pleasure to be stuck inside your house for such a lengthy period of time. Therefore, take it easy and go for a drive; there is more to life than just working and worrying about the pandemic.
